There are lots of useful resources on the Internet for checking to see what traffic is like before you travel. The highways agency recently released a great resource for checking traffic between two motorway junctions. You can even look at the traffic cameras!
The website is http://www.trafficengland.co.uk/motorwayflow.aspx
When you visit the page you'll be presented with a search form
From here you can select a motorway, a starting junction and and end junction

You can also select what information you'd like to see including speed signs and traffic cameras
Once the search results are returned you'll be able to see exactly what is currently going on at each junction, in both directions

You can print the results off or refresh the results so that are up to date
If you have selected to display traffic cameras you can click on the camera icon to get a view of the motorway

Again you can refresh this image to get the current view
A very useful resource, here at IBIT we've added it into the favourite links section on our SharePoint front page for easy access to the site
