Did you know that when you press the send button you can choose not to have the message delivered straight away?
The first question you are probably asking is “why would you do that”?
A good example is bulk email, sending a message to a large number of recipients can take a long time cause messages from other people on your system to be delayed. It might be better to schedule the sending of your newsletter until after hours
This is actually quite simple to do and there are instructions for all the recent versions of Outlook below
Select your version
Once you have created your email
Click the OPTIONS tab in the ribbon at the top of your message

Select the Delay Delivery option to display the message option dialog

About half way down you'll see the "Do not deliver before:" option

Enter the date and time you'll like the message to go out and click the close button
Send your message in the normal way by clicking Send
The message will sit in your outbox waiting to go out at the specified time
![]()
That's it!
The important thing to remember though is that you MUST have Outlook open at the time the message is due to go out
This is because the delay is controlled by Outlook
Try it for yourself by sending a message to your own email address
